Qatar Emir Meets Uzbek President and Azerbaijan Deputy PM on Sidelines of 7th CICA Summit in Baku

On the sidelines of the 7th Summit of the CICA (Conference on Interaction and Confidence) Building Measures in Asia held in Baku, Azerbaijan, Amir of Qatar His Royal Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani held high-level diplomatic meetings. 

The Qatar Emir Baku Talks highlighted the importance of enhancing bilateral cooperation and cooperation in the fields of economy and regional and international developments.

Meeting with Uzbek President Mirziyoyev

The Amir also met President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to explore avenues of strengthening the strategic cooperation of the two states. They discussed trade, joint investments, infrastructure development and green energy among others, and exchanged ideas and opinions regarding immediate issues of concern in the region and internationally. The meeting outlined ways to broaden the economic cooperation and cooperation between Doha and Tashkent.

Engagements with Azerbaijani Leadership

Sheikh Tamim attended various plenary sessions organized during the summit by Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev. Regional security arrangements, economic integration and the prospect of greater cooperation in Asia reviewed. 

The Qatari delegation was officially received by Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev, which marked the first time leaders from both sides met, marking progress in diplomatic ties between Doha and Baku.

CICA Summit Emphasises Regional Cooperation

During the 7th CICA Summit, the Asian leaders talked about challenges faced by their states, discussed multilateral dialogue and mutual confidence building among the participating nations. 

Sustainable development, regional stability and economic connectivity were discussed. The presence of Qatar further emphasized its diplomatic efforts with Asian partners and its dedication to constructive international cooperation.
