Flights from Abu Dhabi airport to Riyadh were suspended on October 9 and 10, 2026, with fear of attacks on the King Khalid International Airport in Saudi Arabia by Houthis. The rising anxiety and concerns about safety in the region, as well as operational issues affecting flights to Saudi Arabia’s capital, have caused companies to cancel flights to end air travel disruptions.

Flights Cancelled Amid Security Concerns

Etihad’s flight from ADH Airport to Riyadh is suspended. Projectiles were reportedly fired near airport commercial facilities and smoke and some damage was reported in the vicinity. Police are on alert as traffic control and safety measures hamper air traffic.

Multiple Airlines Face Disruptions

More than 330 flights were scrapped out of more than 900 scheduled departures at Riyadh airport, according to flight-tracking data revealed in the report. Other carriers such as IndiGo and Lufthansa have also apparently canceled some operations into Riyadh ahead of its operational risks assessments and ensuring safety of passengers and crew.

Refunds and Rebooking for Passengers

Etihad has warned passengers to consult its official website for up-to-date information about flights before heading to the airport. Any travellers who may have been affected need to check with their airline if they are eligible for a refund of their ticket fares, or an alternative booking at no cost. All flight times may be subject to change depending on the levels of security and the decision by authorities of when to resume flights.

The passengers are encouraged to follow their airline’s official bulletin (the passenger line) and the airport’s passenger announcements for current information where available. Things are still up in the air, and travelers should double check their flights prior to heading to the airport.
