Qatar Traffic Announces Digital Auction of Impounded Vehicles Through Soum
The General Directorate of Traffic in Qatar has announced that owners of vehicles will be able to register on the Soum application to bid for cars which have been seized by the government over the internet.
The online auction will open at 4pm Sunday, October 11, 2026 and will run until 4pm Monday, October 12, 2026. The details of the vehicles will be shown to the Participants through the Digital Platform with the possibility to give immediate bids.
Prospective auction buyers will have a chance to preview the vehicles they are bidding on with Friday, October 9, the opening date of the pictures being posted on the Soum app.
Authorities have also scheduled an in-person inspection period for those who can visit the vehicles to analyse them prior to bidding. The viewing will be on Friday, October 9, to Sunday, October 11.
Daily physical inspections would be set up at the Vehicle Impound Yard – Street 52, Industrial Area from 7am to 12 noon. The buyer can take advantage of this time to check the status of the vehicles before joining their online auction.
Interested entries need to be downloaded from the official Ministry of Interior Soum app for registration for the auction and submit their bid electronically. The electronic process is designed for a more convenient method for the buyer to be involved even though not requiring use of traditional auction methods.
The announcement provides buyers a few days to look through photos of the cars they’re interested in, and physically inspect the vehicle before they submit a bid once it’s close. Registration, familiarisation with the Soum app and understanding the concept are encouraged before the auction opens officially.
