Aramco Facility Targeted in Dhahran, No Casualties Reported

A Saudi Aramco administrative area was hit in a strike which resulted in a small fire and caused damage to part of an office building in Dhahran, the eastern energy hub of Saudi Arabia. The facility had its emergency on Tuesday evening.

Fire Contained by Emergency Teams

The civil defence teams and emergency responders arrived at the scene and extinguished and contained the fire successfully. Damage that was reported included the upper levels of an office tower in Aramco’s corporate headquarters. Authorities state no one has died or been injured in the incident.

Energy Operations Remain Stable

Saudi officials noted, however, that the kingdom’s “core” energy production and export activities were still normal after the damage was reported. Dhahran is one of the major hubs where Saudi Aramco has its operations, managing significant oilfields, pipelines and export systems. After the incident, security at critical energy facilities has reportedly been tightened.

Regional Security Concerns Intensify

The strike took place as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia faces escalating missile and drone attacks in its territory and the intercepting operations above the Saudi capital Riyadh and near its international airport.

The developments have heightened worries of security of critical infrastructure in the kingdom. The authorities have raised the security alert and recently, tensions around the region have increased threats to critical facilities.
