Elon Musk’s Starlink Internet reaches Oman
The promising Starlink Internet can be accessed in Oman, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said on his social media platform X, joining Yemen and Qatar among countries in the region accessing the high-speed internet from the space company.
Starlink is yet to reach Saudi Arabia and the UAE because of pending regulatory confirmation. The company says its LEO satellites have given millions of people in at least 100 countries and territories the ability to connect to high-speed internet.
Traditional communication satellites orbit Earth in the range of 20,000 km to 35,000 km. But Starlink’s thousands of satellites go around the planet at around 550 km, significantly increasing internet speeds and cutting back on latency.
In addition to helping people in remote areas access high-speed internet, Starlink has also proven successful in areas of conflict that could see internet infrastructure getting destroyed. Keep an eye out for more updates.
