Saudi Arabia Secures First Gold at Nagoya Asian Games 2026
On October 1, the Saudi equestrian team won the team jumping event of the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026, marking the Kingdom’s first-ever gold medal in the game. In the Tokyo Harness Polo match at JRA’s Equestrian Park, Saudi Arabia overtook UAE and Japan.
Saudi Equestrian Team Delivers Gold
The Saudi team has added to an impressive record in the Asian Games by completing both rounds without taking a single penalty point. Any clear tries were about equal, a good one coming from Ramzy Al Duhami and Untouchable 32 who earned the victory for the defending champions.
Al Duhami was accompanied by Abdulrahman Alrajhi, Khaled Almonty and Asian Games debutant Saad Alajmi. Saudi Arabia had no penalties thanks to the team’s consistency during the whole tournament.
UAE Takes Silver, Japan Wins Bronze
Host country Japan won bronze and the UAE won silver. Both teams had 4 penalties to their name with UAE earning 2nd Place with the quicker combined time.
It also solidified Saudi Arabia’s legacy in the Asian Games running events. This was the fifth team jumping gold in six Asian Games editions for the Kingdom, IFES said.
Major Milestone for Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia won their first gold medal at the Aichi-Nagoya Games, through the equestrian victory. In addition to the medals won in the various events, Saudi sports coverage reported that the Kingdom had captured a total of 12 medals, three gold, two silver and nine bronze.
The gold also underscores the enduring significance of equestrian sport as an integral part of Saudi Arabia’s international sporting campaign. The Kingdom’s team has already won the successive Asian Games jumping titles and now accumulated an Asian Games jumping record, making it yet another major milestone in the continent’s record.
