Coachella 2024: Part-Palestinian rapper Saint Levant to debut at desert festival

Saint Levant, the prominent rapper behind viral hits such as ‘I Guess’ and ‘Nails’, is all set to perform at the annual music and arts festival held at the Coachella Valley in the Colorado Desert from the 12th-14th and from 19th-21st of this month.

It’s going to be the Arab musician’s debut performance at the festival. Coachella 2024 also includes other major international stars such as Lana Del Rey, Ice Spice, Taylor the Creator, Doja Cat, J Balvin, AP Dhillon, Sublime, John Summit and, of course, No Doubt.

Saint Levant to debut at Coachella 2024: excited?

Levant will match the footsteps of other Arab artists who have performed at Coachella such as Dudu Tassa & the Kuwaitis, French Montana, Belly, DJ Sama and Elyanna. These prominent names come from different countries across the massive region.

The artist started receiving substantial attention in 2022 as he released his chart-topping album ‘Very Few Friends’ and debut EP ‘From Gaza, With Love’, quickly making a name for himself. He creates magic melding Arabic, English and French.

Raised in Gaza and Jordan, Levant comes from a diverse cultural background, including French, Algerian and Serbian. UAE residents experienced Levant’s distinct approach of mixing musical genres when he performed in Dubai for the first time in January 2023.

“They told me not to mention Palestine”

Last year, GQ Middle East and GQ France named the part-Palestinian rapper “Man of the Year”. During his acceptance speech for the French edition in Paris in November, he dedicated the accolade to the children of Palestine.

They told me not to mention Palestine,” he said on stage, adding: “But you cannot censor me and I cannot stay silent while more than 8,000 Palestinian children have been murdered by the Israeli occupation that has been going on for 75 years … It’s not a conflict.”
