Saudi Arabia, France Deepen Defence Ties With New Strategic Declaration

Saudi Arabia and France have implemented military cooperation with a new Declaration of Intent, aimed at establishing a new phase in the defensive partnership. The accord was signed during Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s visit to Paris as a state visit, enhancing the historic relationship between the two countries with a new aspect.

Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman and French Minister of the Armed forces Catherine Vautrin signed the declaration at the Élysée Palace. It sets to create more overarching guidelines for defence technology, cyber security and military training cooperation and maritime security.

New Focus on AI, Cybersecurity and Military Technology

One of the main provisions in the agreement is sharing some of the new military technologies. Saudi Arabia and France plan to deepen partnership in sophisticated defence technologies, and in the fields of industry and technology cooperation to help modernize their militaries.

There is also an increasing focus on cybersecurity and artificial intelligence for bilateral defence planning. The two nations agreed to share more knowledge in the areas of cyber security, artificial intelligence and sophisticated technological systems, which are crucial in today’s risks.

Expanding Military Training and Education

In addition, the partnership sets greater focus on military education and professional development. Saudi Arabia and France are likely to further intensify cooperation and military sharing including joint training, exchange visits to military knowledge and military institutions/camps.
