Kuwait–Bahrain Youth Cooperation: Shared Initiatives and Strategic Goals in 2026
Youth development has become another field of cooperation between Bahrain and Kuwait as both countries aim to train youth for adaptation to alter economic and social trends. Leaders, vocational training, creativity and skills have been the main areas of discussion in recent bilateral meetings held in Manama.
The meeting coincided with Kuwait’s Minister of State for Youth and Sports Affairs, Dr. Tareq Hamad Al-Jalahma, and Bahrain’s Minister of Youth Affairs, Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, coming into the main hall. They underlined the possibility of introducing each other with successful models in youth development issues as well as establishing practicable programmes of their mutual interest with broader implications for the youth development of other countries in the GCC.
Leadership, Discipline and Teamwork
Bahrain’s Gadeha Junior Training Camp was one of the focus areas of interest. The programme emphasizes on physical fitness, collaboration, resourcefulness and crisis management skills while providing hands-on learning opportunities for young individuals that go beyond the classroom setting.
The Kuwaiti delegation visited the camp, to look at the possibility of implementing the camp in Kuwait in the future as a model of initiatives for youth. It focuses on discipline and leadership as part of a larger, Gulf-wide initiative to develop the confidence, resilience and teamworking skills of young people.
Building Creative and Digital Skills
Also visited the Al Manara arts and culture space of the Muharraq Model Youth Centre. The facilities provide an example of how youth centres can be transformed from recreational space to all year round centres for creativity, digital learning and participation in communities.
By investing in these environments, young people can learn various skills including technology, design, arts and entrepreneurship, among others, skills which are very advantageous to Kuwait and Bahrain. It also opens doors to the cross-border interactions of young creators and forms a regional network.
Career Preparation and Youth City 2030
A further important cooperation is training the youths for employment in the future. Youth City 2030, a collaborative initiative between Bahrain’s Tamkeen, was used as a good example of aligning the needs and interests of Bahrain’s youth with the emerging opportunities within the labour market.
The initiative offers Kuwait a possible blueprint for improving vocational training, career and entrepreneurship education and training. There could also be more opportunities for the young to get to know different industries and career tracks in the GCC, through cross-border exchanges.
Broader GCC Youth Strategy
The Kuwait-Bahrain encounter is similar to a general restructure of the youth policies in the Gulf countries from traditional programmes to skilled training, innovation and employment readiness. The sharing of successful models enables countries to try out ideas more quickly and to establish opportunities for regional cooperation.
The strands of conversation concerning student exchanges, Bahrain’s Hope Network also bear witness to a more globally oriented mode of thinking. Whereas national programmes are the focus of youth development in Kuwait, Bahrain is exploring regional and international opportunities for engaging with young people in youth development.
