Digitally Aware Family

The Ministry of Social Development and Family (MSDF) in Qatar has announced the national campaign, “Digitally Aware Family,” with the motto “Their Protection is Your Responsibility.” The project aims to provide a more safe, balanced and responsible digital experience for a nationwide family.

The campaign has been jointly developed by the Digital Safety Committee for Children and Youth, comprising 20 national entities with a common vision: children and families accessing the digital world in the safest and most confident manner.

Campaign Focuses on Awareness, Not Restrictions

The campaign focuses on strategies for digital safety communication, awareness and responsible technology use, not restrictions and bans taking a practical approach.

It is specifically geared towards parents, children, teachers, social and psychological professionals, and digital creators. The initiative seeks to increase digital literacy and foster safer relationships with technology by supporting a dialogue with families about online experiences.

Three Phases of Digital Protection

It has three stages that are linked together and focus on various areas of online safety.

Risk Awareness is aimed at raising awareness about children’s digital exposure and/or recognising dangerous content and/or potential dangers within the online environment for parents and children.

Suggestions and screening time management ideas from Practical Protection help parents and families use tools on social media, games and digital apps to help protect their screen time.

Responsibility and Reporting addresses the nature and responsibilities for digital rights, as well as who to contact about cyber issues and other online risks.

Qatar Launches Unified eSafety Portal

A central theme of the campaign is the launch of www.esafety.qa, a database on-line to ensure that information on safety is readily available to the public.

The portal offers education resource kits, parenting information, safety resources and multimedia educational awareness resources. These resources can assist families to embed digital safety into their daily lives.

Supporting Qatar’s Family Strategy

The activities of the campaign is in line with MSDF’s 2025-2030 Strategy “From Care to Empowerment”. Its community-based strategy is an appreciation of the value of digital wellbeing for family and youth wellbeing.

Qatar has also brought 20 national entities onto the table, giving a defense to online risks becoming more valuable than ever through cross-sector cooperation. The program offers guidance and a structure to help empower digital parents and give young users more protection.
