Champions Trophy 2025: Can Pakistan finish construction before February 19?
The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is scheduled to be hosted by Karachi in Pakistan on February 19. The tournament is back after 8 years and is being played in a hybrid format. Team India is going to play all its matches in Dubai, a neutral stadium.
But it has just been reported that all three stadiums in Pakistan set to host the upcoming matches are far from ready and it is not just refurbishment that is incomplete, The Times of India quoted a source as saying.
The atmospheric conditions are not ideal for construction and finishing it at a rapid pace, the report noted, adding that the usual norm is that the host countries shall hand over the venues to the ICC much in advance so that they do the check and make arrangements.
“PCB and ICC together need to pull off a miracle,” it added. But the Pakistan Cricket Board has tried to assure fans, spectators and media that all upgradation process is progressing on schedule in both Karachi and Lahore and shall be complete on time.
