August 12 Solar Eclipse UAE Timings: How to Watch the NASA Live Stream in Dubai

The total solar eclipse of 12 August 2026 is grabbing many of the UAE’s attention but for those staying in Dubai here is one important thing to know: there will be no eclipse in the UAE. During the eclipse, the Moon’s shadow will cover some areas of Greenland, Iceland, Europe and northern Africa, but not cover the UAE.

Will Dubai See the Solar Eclipse?

Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and everywhere else in the UAE will not see the eclipse occur in this region. The event will not have an eclipse of the Sun visible in the UAE, as the Moon will not cover the Sun.

Only residents should not try to look at the Sun when they should see the event. Rather, a proper viewing of the eclipse from the Emirates will be through an official livestream.

When Does the August 12 Eclipse Happen?

The next eclipse will be on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. A total solar eclipse is detected by NASA’s astronomical records and the total phase can last for up to about two minutes based on the site of eclipse watching.

The key difference for the UAE users is between the eclipse timelines and the eclipse visibility map. The duration of the eclipse phases like seconds to minutes seen in Middle East newspapers may indicate the moments when the eclipse happens in other parts of the world but they do not imply it can be seen in Dubai.

How to Watch the NASA Live Stream in Dubai?

The eclipse will be broadcast live by NASA for all to see from the comfort of the comfort of their own homes for Dubai residents. NASA has also given the folks who aren’t in the line of totality a chance to watch NASA’s live coverage of the eclipse; the live coverage is available at NASA.gov, on YouTube and NASA+.

Some of this is helpful, because the camera images can be broadcasted live along the path of the eclipse, and during totality reveal the image of the Moon’s silhouette and the solar corona.

Why Is the Eclipse Significant?

Total Solar Eclipses happen when the Moon moves directly in front of the Sun from the perspective of someone standing on Earth’s surface, and obscures ALL of the Sun’s disk. The August 12 event is considered to be a total eclipse and NASA states that the eclipse will be visible across North America, Africa and Europe.

The event, however, is still an excellent opportunity for the UAE skywatchers to observe international astronomy broadcasts and advance their knowledge on eclipse science. It also emphasizes that the differences in visibility can be very stark between just a few thousand kilometres apart.

What About Eclipse Glasses?

The eclipse will not be seen in the UAE, this means that eclipse glasses do not have to be sold for people to experience the eclipse here. But, people who go into the making-centimeter path of eclipse vision must wear certified eclipse-viewing safety with the partial phases.

NASA cautions people not to view the Sun without specialized solar viewing equipment. Regular sunglasses are not necessarily enough to safely watch the Sun’s view.
