UAE Creates New Government Authority to Enhance Public Services
The UAE has created a Community-Managed Virtual Authority to enhance public engagement in Government development and decision making. The initiative is based on a concept of rotating leadership, bringing citizens and residents into the public sector innovation world to gain insights into service and use their collective problem-solving abilities to strengthen service provision and services.
UAE Introduces Community Managed Virtual Authority
The new UAE government authority was provided by a resolution provided by H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The government has appointed H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan as Chairman of the Project and has created a pioneering model that brings community talents and government priorities together.
Rotating Leadership to Encourage Public Participation
The authority will work using the rotation of team leaders, who are selected as directors-general and include qualified professionals, academics, young people, entrepreneurs and retirees.
Every team will be in office for a specific period of time that will showcase various points of views and areas of expertise in the field of public administration, whilst also electing greater participation of the community in the process of national development.
Innovation Driven Approach to Public Services
The initiative has been designed with the purpose of fostering participatory governance, allowing citizens and experts to share their ideas, create national projects and suggest viable solutions to address public issues.
It is designed as a flexible framework so that it can be used to experiment and make rapid decisions and innovations, which will enable government institutions to try new ways of providing services.
Knowledge Sharing Supports UAE Centennial 2071
The primary characteristic of the authority is placing a focus on knowledge documentation and institutional experience. There will be continuity from one outgoing group of leaders to the next so that they take the products of their work with them. The approach aims at achieving long-term national goals, such as UAE Centennial 2071 and enhancing the efficiency of the public sector and citizen-centric governance.
It is part of UAE’s government modernisation strategy, which aims at increasing participation in the community and fostering the growth of more responsive public services in a manner of shared responsibility and innovation.
