The citizens in the GCC have embraced a digital government with the services offered by the GCC leading the world in delivering administrative services without requiring citizens to travel to government offices to complete their daily tasks. Now if you need to renew your residency permit, pay traffic fines, schedule appointments with an official, or access digital identification, you can get those public services just by using your smartphone.

The smartest trick for new and existing residents to ease daily life in the GCC countries is to install the right government applications.

Start with Your National Digital ID

Residents are advised to enable the official digital identity of their country, prior to use of the majority of government platforms. These applications serve as safe authentication instruments, which allow for biometric verification, digital signatures, and one-sign-on to several public services.

All the GCC States have their own digital identity system. UAE Pass is the digital identity solution used by UAE, Nafath by Saudi Arabia, Kuwait’s digital identity is through their Kuwait Mobile ID system, Qatar’s is through their digital identity framework PKI, Oman through the incorporation of digital identity within their PKI digital identity system and Bahrain through their eKYC (electronic Know Your Customer) strategy.

United Arab Emirates (UAE)

The UAE is home to one of the world’s highest-rated digital government ecosystems. UAE Pass is the universal username and password to access thousands of federal and local services.

People should also download ICP UAE, Dubai Now, TAMM and Dubai RTA to facilitate visa management, utility bills, government transactions and services/operation of Nol Card and vehicle registration and payments for parking services at Dubai authority respectively.

Likewise, residents can make appointments at Primary Health Care facilities via the Nar’aakom application, find information about government services, utilities, and information via the Hukoomi portal.
