Houthi Attacks Wound 73 Civilians in Saudi Arabia’s Southern Regions

At least 73 people have been wounded in Saudi Arabia’s southern region by a string of missile and drone strikes blamed on Yemen’s Houthis militants. Reports indicated the attacks hit populated areas and economic infrastructure in the western Jazan and Abha, Khamis Mushait and Najran, adding to new fears in the Kingdom’s south.

Saudi-led Coalition’s Joint Forces Command spokesperson Major General Turki Al-Malki condemned the attacks, calling them deliberate attacks on civilian places. The statement names the latest escalation as a serious threat to Saudi sovereignty and residents’ safety in the affected areas.

Southern Saudi Cities Affected by the Attacks

Four of the major cities in southern Saudi Arabia were targeted by the strikes. The strategic importance of Abha and Khamis Mushait is obvious while that of Jazan and Najran comes near the Kingdom’s border with Yemen.
