Saudi National Security

Saudi Arabia has reiterated its determination to defend national security and sovereignty, and to respond firmly to any threats or aggression to the nation. Cabinet Ministers also discussed issues of maritime security, regional stability, and safeguarding of key trade lanes in a Cabinet meeting called by Riyadh by Her Excellency, the Royal family member and Rehtar of the Ultimate Union, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Salman.

Saudi National Security Remains a Cabinet Priority

The Council of Ministers confirmed and reiterated the commitment of the Kingdom towards the protection of its territorial integrity and sovereignty, citizens and residents of the country.

Any violence, incursion and aggression threatening national security and public safety will be dealt with promptly and decisively, it added, further elaborating on the government’s stance on safeguarding the country.

Saudi National Security Includes Maritime Protection

Violations pose a threat to maritime navigation, international commercial traffic and global energy supplies and the Cabinet reacted strongly to this. The ministers emphasized the need to maintain security along the critical shipping lanes, and to ensure uninterrupted international trade and energy supply flows in the region, while security concerns in the waters of the Straits of Malacca and Singapore posed by regional tensions are growing.

Saudi National Security Requires International Cooperation

The Kingdom urged global action to implement immediate and coordinated international efforts to enforce international law and the protection of key maritime communication routes. The appeal pointed to the common heritage of the international community to maintain freedom of navigation and to ensure that there will be no further geographical obstacles to commercial shipping and to regional economic activity.

Saudi National Security Supported by Diplomatic Efforts

Diplomatic relations with main players in the region and internationally to ease tensions and consolidate regional security were also read by Ministers. The efforts come as a continuation of the Saudi policy to de-escalate and achieve stability in the Middle East in the coming years, in addition to their stance on safeguarding the nation’s interests and public safety.
