Tabby email glitch UAE

Thousands of UAE residents were left shocked and eventually upset with an e-mail notification from BNPL platform Tabby that they had won Dh5000 worth of flight vouchers to Emirates Airlines. The email then went viral on social media platforms before being corrected by Tabby.

The incident has hit the headlines in the UAE as a consumer story, prompting discussions on promotion, customer communication and personal data security.

What Happened?

Many Tabby customers were sent an official-looking email on Friday, June 26, 2026, announcing that their name had been drawn in a travel voucher promotion to Emirates Airlines for Dh5,000 worth of airline provision of travel.

Winners were asked to submit their shipment information and Emirates ID details, with links provided to allow users to “pack their bags”. Some of the recipients thought that they were winners, since the email was appearing authentic.

With the timing, too, the airborne trip and the excitement it caused was somewhat heightened, as most of the UAE population is in the process of planning their summer holidays and they keenly wanted to enjoy this unforeseeable reward for travelling.

Why Did the Error Occur?

A few hours later, Tabby said it had accidentally been sent as a result of a technical configuration error.

Rather than going to the actual raffle winners, the system erroneously sent a congratulatory message to a much larger group of customers who were not the raffle winners.

Once the error was noted, the company disabled the prize claim form immediately, and started informing the affected customers about the error.

Tabby’s Official Apology

Afterwards, Tabby issued a public apology for the mistake made, taking full responsibility for it.

The company admits a lot of customers were disappointed after the impression they had they were winning the voucher. It cannot be your egg white shirt is out now and goes back in soon again, said Tabby.

The speedy and candid responses made an effort to provide customers with appropriate confidence and minimize customer confusion regarding the promotional offer.

The Emirates Voucher Promotion: Real or fake?

Emirates Voucher promotion was a legit promotional campaign going on from May 20th to June 21st, 2026 that Tabby was involved in.

All customers using Tabby Visa Card and spending more than Dh500 during the campaign period were automatically entered in the draw.

But because of the email glitch, several customers who were ultimately not chosen were mistakenly told that they had won.

What About the Emirates ID Details Submitted?

Customer privacy was one of the major concerns after the incident. Having the claim form completed online before its expression went offline, worried users as to how their data along with their Emirates ID information would be dealt with.

Later, Tabby explained that anything posted on the wrong form wouldn’t be saved. The company announced its engineering team would remove all data collected through the buggy link, and that there will be no recovery efforts.

This was a relief and alleviated concerns about sensitive information possibly being stored or incorrectly used.

Final Thoughts

This Tabby email mess is a lesson in how the tiniest mistake can become a big consumer headache. It is a reminder for both the companies and the consumers that the Flagship email is a mistake.

Then there is an important lesson for both the businesses and consumers. Companies must make sure that marketing campaigns are carefully tested before going live, and customers must validate prize announcements before providing personal information.
