On behalf of UAE President HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, HH Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed has arrived in Ethiopia for the World Without Hunger Conference. Upon arrival at the airport, the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed, received His Highness.
The official reception ceremony featured the national anthems of both countries. During a brief break at the airport lounge, both sides noted the strength of bilateral cooperation and the importance of further consolidating these relations across different fields.
UAE’s commitment to strengthening global food security
Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed is leading the UAE delegation at the crucial conference – seeking to support international efforts to advance innovative technologies and sustainable practices for global food security.
His Highness highlighted the UAE’s commitment to supporting global efforts to strengthen food security and bolster the food and supply chain sectors, and simultaneously mitigating the effects of climate change, according to a report in The National.
The Emirati leadership has long been focusing on assisting nations across the globe in overcoming challenges related to food security. More than 1,500 stakeholders, including heads of state, senior officials and representatives of Financial institutions, are set to attend.
Strategies to tackle hunger and food insecurity
The World Without Hunger Conference consists of technical sessions to find solutions to problems, an investment forum and a high-level political forum. On Tuesday, the conference is focusing on strategies to tackle hunger and food security issues.
The next day, the focus is going to shift to boosting investment for food security initiatives. On Thursday, statements by heads of state and senior officials are going to be issued to address the issue of eliminating hunger.
Sheikh Khaled is being accompanied on the high-profile trip by an official Emirati delegation, including Reem al-Hashimy, minister of state for international cooperation, and Mohamed al-Rashdi, the UAE’s ambassador to Ethiopia.
