How to Register Your School for ELO 2026: Deadlines, Fees, and Team Guidelines for UAE & GCC Classrooms

The International English Language Olympia 2026  is currently setting out to host one of the region’s biggest English language competitions at King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, from October 15-17, 2026. This year’s edition adds to the theatrics, the community service, the teamwork and project presentations with an exciting emphasis on Artificial Intelligence.

If your institution intends to take part, preparations are necessary in advance, as team verification, travel plans and documentation may require a couple of weeks.

ELO International 2026: Registration Deadlines

The UAE, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and other international schools have to register online prior to the official application deadline.

The last date for the registration is October 17, 2026, however schools are encouraged to register early. Pre-registered can fill available teams for the registration and allow for time to receive travel papers and Saudi entry documents.

This is not the case for Saudi Arabia schools. They have to meet the requirements of national or regional English Language Olympia before progressing to the international finals, rather than registering straight through.

ELO International 2026: Registration Fees

ELO 2026 is based on the institutional registration system, not the student registry. Registration includes team participation, the appropriate materials and supplies, access to AI oriented workshops sessions, and entry to all three days of competition. 

Other expenses should be considered separately for schools such as flights, accommodation, transportation, meals, and applicable Saudi visa processing fee for accompanying staff and students.

ELO International 2026: Team Eligibility Requirements

ELO is applying clear participation rules to keep its standards of fair competition.

The teams must be of five active students and one active student supervisor or coach. All the team members have to be from the same school or school of education, though when allowed by the organizers, the school/education may register more than one team.

The competition is available for students whose official language is not English, it would suit ESL students in the entire GCC countries.

ELO International 2026: Registration Process

Registration can be done online via the official ELO International platform.

Students should be divided into appropriate categories of the competition based on their ages and the school should first choose the category. The institution will then provide its official information such as the name of the institution, address, principal, contact details and English department coordinator.

Schools input the necessary student information for the 5 participants and supervising coach after which schools are paid and confirmation is offered. Once teams are approved, they are invited to attend required team orientation sessions which discuss the guidelines for judging, project expectations for AI, and the timing of events.

ELO International 2026: Prepare Your Team

ELO assesses students on five aspects rather than the traditional English Olympiad that only assesses on 1 aspect.

The teams are judged based on their English level in the exam, on the quality of their projects related to the field of AI, on their theatrical representations, on their service projects and on how they cooperate with each other during the event. Schools should start preparing well in advance by assigning roles in a project, presentation style and have some mock practice sessions.
