Saudi Arabia and Syria Urge Dialogue to Prevent Further Regional Escalation

The Saudi Crown Prince hosted a high-level meeting with Syria’s President Ahmed Al-Sharaa in Riyadh to discuss measures for enhancing bilateral relations and securing regional stability. 

Agreements and memoranda of understanding were struck in various spheres of cooperation, while attention was paid to economic cooperation, reconstruction and the importance of diplomatic coordination to avoid additional regional escalation.

Saudi Syria Talks Emphasise Dialogue and Regional Stability

The two leaders emphasized the need for convergence between the diplomatic positions in the context of regional tensions. Strategic frameworks were also discussed to ensure regional security, alongside with measures in the area of counter-terrorism cooperation, both parties underlined the necessity of dialogue for security and stability, ensuring the support to the development process.

Saudi Syria Talks Deliver Wide Range of Agreements

During the visit, a set of bilateral agreements and MoU’s in the fields of development, infrastructure, energy, housing, health, industry, agriculture and cooperation in the environment were signed. 

The cooperation is also expanded to include military matters and financial services, giving some indication of the wide range of planned cooperation between the two countries.

Saudi Syria Talks Advance Reconstruction Cooperation

Syria completed a few project agreements with the Saudi Fund for Development for the reconstruction and upgrading of critical infrastructure. The projects concentrate on basic services and public health infrastructure and housing, as part of the broader work on strengthening Syria’s development and recovery.

Saudi Syria Talks Bring Senior Officials Together

Senior Syrian ministers who oversee foreign affairs, defence, finance, industry and internal trade, intelligence leadership and President Al-Sharaa were present. During their bi-lateral talks with their Saudi counterparts, both sides discussed cooperation between the government sectors and moved forward with the results of the leaders’ meeting.
