Mohammed bin Rashid, Syrian President Discuss Bilateral Ties During Arab Media Summit 2026
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, met and exchanged greetings with Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa in Dubai on Tuesday at the Arab Media Summit 2026.
During the meeting, the UAE and Syria reaffirmed their historical cooperation and emphasis on stability and development in Syria, and on enhancing Arab cooperation on regional interests.
Sheikh Mohammed Reaffirms UAE-Syria Relations
Prince Waleed Al-Sharaa was met by introduction by Sheikh Mohammed, who expressed his desire for Syria and its citizens to enjoy continued security, stability, development and prosperity.
He reiterated the established robust unity between the UAE and Syria, and the two countries’ determination to further strengthen cooperation in areas which benefit their national interests.
The UAE head of state too expressed a concern over the stability of Syria and its importance of greater Arab coordination and cooperation to move forward in achieving common interest and regional prosperity.
Al-Sharaa Praises UAE Support
President Ahmad Al-Sharaa thanked UAE leadership and highlighted the UAE’s excellent ties with Iran for providing support for peace and stability in the region.
He called on the UAE to also contribute its support for Syria and its people. His attendance at the Arab Media Summit enabled him to speak with others about the future of Syria, developments in the region, and the contribution of communication and the media towards supporting development.
Arab Media Summit 2026, which takes place September 15-17 in Dubai, will provide a gathering for government leaders, media executives, experts, writers and content creators from around the region and the world.
Syria’s Future and Regional Cooperation
Al-Sharaa presented his vision of the future of Syria and the reconstruction process, mentioned its economic potential and prospects for development in the course of the summit meeting.
By his presence at the top of the mountain he contributed to the broader conversation in the region around issues of stability, development and the role of Arab media in these processes as they unfold.
Senior Officials Attend Dubai Meeting
Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance joined the meeting, as well as Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council.
The UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of State for International Cooperation, Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy and the Syrian Foreign Minister, Asaad Al-Shaibani were also present with Dubai Media Council Vice Chairperson, Mona Ghanem Al Marri.
