Kuwait Fines 31 Businesses KD 155,000 Over Anti-Money Laundering Breaches

Kuwait has imposed Kuwait AML Fines totaling KD 155,000 on 31 businesses for violating anti-money laundering requirements, according to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The violations were captured between January and August 2026 under Ministerial Decision No. 25/2026. The action applies to businesses and professions not in the financial sector.

Gold and Precious Metals Firms Penalised

The great bulk of gold, precious stones and precious metals sector is exactly the biggest share of the penalties. A total KD 135,000 was levied at 27 establishments, each in the amount of KD 5,000. The companies did not fulfill their obligations with regard to suspicious transaction indicators and reporting methods, the police said.

Real Estate Brokers Also Face Penalties

The four real estate brokerage companies were punished with a total KD 20,000 fines for their non-compliance to inform the Kuwait Financial Intelligence Unit within the required two working days.

This reporting obligation shall serve to raise the awareness of the financial intelligence authorities as to potentially suspicious transactions with the aim of evaluating such transactions and taking appropriate action promptly.

Kuwait Strengthens Financial Compliance

The penalties enforce Kuwait’s legislation to combat money laundering, as well as other regulatory decisions. The ministry of Commerce and Industry has stated that it will keep on checking violations of the businesses and will take legal action as well. In recent years the new regulations have focused on expanding financial crime control in areas that are believed to present a security threat.
