Elon Musk launches Neuralink’s first global clinical trial in UAE
Elon Musk’s brain chip company Neuralink has officially launched its first global clinical trial in Abu Dhabi, UAE. This is a big step for the tech company with a novel product.
Neuralink’s global expansion, in partnership with Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, will assess how its brain-computer interface can help individuals with motor control and speech issues regain control and communication through thought. The trial will enroll patients who have lost voluntary control of their limbs or speech due to paralysis or neurodegenerative disease in hopes of using forefront neural technology to improve their quality of life.

With these projects, the UAE becomes the first country to conduct a Neuralink human trial outside the United States and become part of a rapidly developing set of partnerships exploring Medical Innovation and Advanced Technologies in the region.
The trial, called the “PRIME Study” (which stands for Precise Robotically Implanted Brain-Computer Interface), uses a surgical robot to implant ultra-thin threads into the brain that can record brain activity and send signals to an external device, allowing users to operate gadgets using the mind.
UAE authorities applauded the partnership, viewing it as a game changer and a significant step forward in placing the country at the forefront of neurotechnology and artificial intelligence.
