The Saudi Ministry of Culture is preparing for a string of cultural and historical events for the February 21 – 26 period, to mark the annual Saudi Founding Day – celebrated on February 22, according to a report from the official Saudi Press Agency.
The national occasion commemorates the founding of the Saudi state by Imam Muhammad bin Saud in 1727 to bring the heroism that built the country and political system in the limelight again. The day has been declared a public holiday for students and workers alike.
Saudi Arabia Foundation Day 2024 in focus
The many ministry-organised events include The Foundation Nights – promising a splendid voyage through time with poetry and musical performances. It will be held on February 21 and 22 at Abu Bakr Salem Stage in Boulevard City, in the capital Riyadh.
Symphony of the Beginning – featuring performances by some of the most prominent contemporary Saudi poets, accompanied by the National Orchestra – will be organised from February 25 to 26 at the Abu Bakr Saiem Stage in Boulevard City.
The long list of events highlights the Ministry’s dedication to commemorating a significant moment in the country’s history, the establishment of the Saudi state, the bond between citizenry and leadership, and the legacy of progress and prosperity over centuries.
Celebrating Saudi Arabia’s 300 years of history
In addition, the Founding Village from February 22 – 24 is set to travel in 14 cities and governorates across the Kingdom, in an effort to put the spotlight on the country’s cultural legacy to highlight its 300 years of history.
The event is expected to mark its presence in Madinah, Jeddah, Hail, Tabuk, Arar, Dammam, Najran, Al-Baha, Sakaka, Al-Ahsa, Abha, Taif, Qassim and Jizan. Meanwhile, a musical theatre and a drone show will close the first-day events, as per the official SPA.
