Jimmy Kimmel to Launch Podcast ‘Strike Force Five’ With Jimmy Fallon
Jimmy Kimmel has joined forces with four unemployed late-night hosts, namely Stephen Colbert, Seth Meyers, Jimmy Fallon, and John Oliver, to launch a podcast called Strike Force Five on Spotify. Premiering Wednesday, the podcast will run at least 12 episodes.
The late-night hosts, who were first to take the bullet when the Writers Guild of America (WGA) called the strike in early May, are looking at sharing their experiences about the ongoing strike. Proceeds from the podcast will go to out-of-work staff from the hosts’ respective shows. Jimmy Kimmel, John Oliver, Seth Meyers, Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Fallon have regularly provided treats and lunches to those on the picket lines. They are also paying out of their pocket for their staff who have been unable to work for the last four months.
Last month, John Oliver said he wants to see a fair deal. “It is absolutely appalling that they are not negotiating right now. The fact that they are not around a table right now is absolutely disgusting.” Seth Meyers had said back in April that if a writers’ strike happens, it would shut down production on a great many shows. “I’ve been through this before in 2007 – 2008, there was a very long strike while I was working at SNL. It was really miserable. And it doesn’t just affect the writers.”
The American comedian said it affects all the incredible non-writing staff on the shows. “And it would really be a miserable thing for people to have to go through, especially considering we’re on the heels of that awful pandemic that affected, obviously, not just show business, but all of us.”

It should be noted that the late-night hosts have come together for the second time this year. They have been podcasting to pass time, such as Seth Meyers’ Family Trips with the Meyers Brothers, where John Oliver was one of the guests.
