Tom Cruise has arrived in Abu Dhabi for the Middle East premiere of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. The star landed at the new Midfield Terminal of Abu Dhabi International Airport, which is featured in the film.
One of the major stunts was filmed on the terminal’s unique dune-shaped curved roof. The interior of the terminal will also be revealed to the public for the first time in the movie.
Cruise unveiled the Mission: Impossible branding on an Etihad Airways Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which will fly with the livery to various destinations. Etihad is the official airline for the film, set to release in the UAE on July 13.
The Midfield Terminal has been decorated with Mission: Impossible branding and purpose-built sets were created, including an Etihad First Class Lounge.
The regional premiere of the film is scheduled to take place at the Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental, with several cast members, including Cruise, expected to attend.
The shooting of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning took place in Abu Dhabi, marking the third time the franchise has filmed in the UAE.
The film’s production faced multiple delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, causing changes in filming locations and schedules.
The movie’s world premiere occurred in Rome, and the cast and crew, including Tom Cruise, are now heading to Abu Dhabi for the Middle Eastern premiere.
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One is set to be released globally on July 12, with the UAE release scheduled for July 13.
The film follows Ethan Hunt and his IMF team as they undertake their most dangerous mission yet, racing against time to prevent a new weapon from falling into the wrong hands.
The story involves a global race and confrontations with a powerful enemy, forcing Ethan to prioritize his mission over the lives of those he cares about.
The cast includes familiar faces such as Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, and Henry Czerny reprising their roles.
Newcomers to the franchise include Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Hayley Atwell, Greg Tarzan Davis, and Shea Whigham.
Director Christopher McQuarrie and Tom Cruise decided to split the story into two parts to expand the scale and create an epic adventure. Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two is set for release in June 2024.
