UAE Condemns Missile Attack on ADNOC Vessel in Strait of Hormuz
The UAE has harshly protested what it has termed a hostile missile shot launched by Iran against a ship in the specialty of Hormuz that belongs to Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC).
ADNOC stated on Sunday that one of its allied ships had been a target early on Saturday. There was no report of fatalities or injuries and the companies reported the matter was controlled. Not much information is available immediately regarding the cruiser, its cargo, and the amount of damage.
The UAE MoFA accused the incident of being an attack on an ADNOC tanker as it was “navigating the strategic waterway.” Iran has yet to admit to having carried out the attack.
The incident comes as an addition to the rising maritime security concerns in the vital Strait of Hormuz, which serves as a main supply route to oil customers and every fifth of oil demand globally. For the third time on the day of the initial attacks on ships, increased shipping vessel security fears emerged regarding shipments and its overall effects on energy markets.
The most recent incident occurs at a time of growing strains at ADNOC’s maritime business. Since the war began, the company has reported 15 attacks by drones or missiles to its boats, with three of them in the past week, it said Friday. The attacks have left one man dead and 20 injured, The Company says.
Respecting and protecting freedom of navigation and unhindered, safe navigation through international waterways by commercial shipping is emphasized, highlighting that it is not to be attacked or harassed.
UAE condemnation reflects concern about the dangers facing commercial shipping and regional energy facilities in the run-up to the oil liners round the Strait of Hormuz.
