The UAE has provided almost 4 billion dollars of aid to Sudan since 2014, which supports its practice of adopting humanitarian assistance, development, healthcare, support of refugees, and political stability in the region. After the intensification of conflict in 2023, the UAE increased aid in the form of emergency airlifts, medical supplies, nutritional programs, protection of refugees, and significant amounts of money donations to international organizations. The crisis response by the UAE has been massive, and it has allocated over 700 million dollars to humanitarian relief since the 2023 conflict. At the 2025 humanitarian conference, the UAE committed to giving 200 million dollars, out of which 100 million dollars would go to relief in El Fasher and North Darfur.

Logistics have been huge in the emergency 162 airlifts and numerous sea deliveries of food, shelter, and lifesaving supplies have reached Sudan, Chad, South Sudan, and Ethiopia. The UAE has supplied 12,700 tons of food parcels and emergency supplies, along with medicines. High-nutrition supplements were provided to children and lactating mothers in order to fight acute malnutrition.

Healthcare support is also one of the key pillars. UAE has assisted 127 health facilities in 14 states, sponsored field hospitals and mobile clinics to war-based zones. A total of 66,000 beneficiaries are served in solar-powered clinics; medical shipments comprise vaccines, antibiotics, trauma kits, and equipment requirements. The use of ambulances and emergency vehicles was also used in border regions.

The UAE collaborated with the UN to donate 70 million dollars to humanitarian efforts in Sudan and 30 million dollars of refugee aid in the neighboring nations. There was also provision of hygiene kits, sanitation assistance, tents, blankets, and shelter facilities to allow the displaced families to live in safe conditions.

Refugee Assistance, Education Services, and Long-term Developmental Assistance

The UAE continues to offer relief outside of Sudan. Some of the assistance provided are 10 solar-powered wells that serve 65,000 refugees, food at transit sites, and nutritional programs for infants and malnourished children. The UAE contributed 10.25 million dollars to UN initiatives that help women in Sudan and 4 million dollars to UNICEF to educate refugees.

Classrooms, school kits, teacher salaries, and learning materials in Chad are also financed by the country to assist displaced Sudanese children. Also, 240,000 Sudanese make their home in the UAE, and 33,000 students are provided with scholarships and education visas to the young population.

The long-term assistance is support of roads, railways, industrial projects, agricultural recovery, and food security programs. WFP, UNHCR, UNICEF, and ICRC cooperate with the UAE, whereas the UAE cooperates diplomatically with the AU and IGAD to promote ceasefires and safeguard civilians. The fact that Sudan has long been a partner of the UAE is further strengthened by economic cooperation agreements and support to Sudanese communities in the UAE.
