As the world prepares to mark World Humanitarian Day, the United Arab Emirates has once again reaffirmed its position as a global front-runner in humanitarian efforts. Long recognized for its timely and large-scale aid responses, the UAE has strengthened its commitment in 2025 by delivering assistance valued at over AED 368 billion ($100.2 billion).

This reflects UAE’s support for more than one billion people across continents since mid-2024. This extensive contribution underlines the UAE’s proactive role in alleviating suffering caused by conflicts, natural disasters, and economic hardship.

Gaza: Leading the Global Response

The UAE has emerged as the largest single contributor of aid to Gaza in 2025. According to the United Nations, 44% of all international humanitarian aid to the region came from the UAE. Through “Operation Chivalrous Knight 3” and its “Birds of Goodness” initiative, the UAE conducted 73 airdrop missions, delivering more than 3,988 tonnes of food and essential supplies to Palestinians.

Support for Sudan

In a major show of solidarity, the UAE pledged $200 million at the High-Level Humanitarian Conference for the People of Sudan in February 2025. This brings its total aid to Sudan over the past decade to $3.5 billion, addressing needs amid ongoing conflict and humanitarian distress.

Relief and Mediation in Ukraine

The UAE continued its support for Ukraine, reaching over 1.2 million people, including 1 million women and children. A notable partnership with the Olena Zelenska Foundation contributed $4.5 million for orphanages and foster families. Furthermore, 16 successful prisoner exchanges were mediated between Russia and Ukraine, leading to the release of 4,349 individuals.

Disaster Relief Across Asia and Africa

  • Chad: 30,000 food baskets and 20,000+ blankets provided after floods.
  • Somalia: 700 tonnes of urgent food aid dispatched.
  • Myanmar: 367 tonnes of emergency relief following a major earthquake.
  • Albania: Firefighting teams and aircraft deployed to assist with wildfire containment.

Sustainable Healthcare Projects

The Fathers’ Endowment Campaign launched in 2025 aims to improve global healthcare access by funding hospitals and medication. A landmark agreement with Chad will see the construction of the Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Hospital and a dialysis center in N’Djamena, enhancing health infrastructure.

As global crises continue to intensify, the UAE remains a pillar of humanitarian diplomacy, blending emergency relief with long-term development, and reaffirming its position as a world leader in compassionate international outreach.
