UAE’s notable role in addressing crisis in Gaza and easing suffering of Palestinians

The humanitarian crisis in Gaza is getting more catastrophic each day and the need for a ceasefire is more urgent than before. Since May 27, it has been estimated that at least 1,373 Palestinians have been killed at the time of seeking food.

This number includes 859 people in close proximity to the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) sites and 514 along the routes of food convoys, according to the UN human rights office in Palestine (OHCHR). This is really concerning.

The need for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza is getting more and more urgent each passing day. Since the beginning of the crisis in October 2023, the UAE has been leading diplomatic efforts to contain the fighting and prevent further escalation.

UAE leading supply of humanitarian aid to Gaza

The UAE has also been consistently stressing the urgent need for quick, large-scale and unimpeded supply of humanitarian, relief and medical aid to the Palestinian people. The UAE’s position reflects its sincere efforts to pursue a political solution to the crisis.

The Gulf state has been facilitating the supply of urgent humanitarian aid through land, sea and air. It has been reported that the UAE has provided more than $1.5 billion in financial assistance to support the Palestinian people in need.

On Friday, the UAE and Jordan led the 59th airdrop operation of humanitarian aid on Gaza, alongside 7 aircraft from France, Germany, Italy and Spain. These efforts are part of the UAE’s Gallant Knight 3 operation, seeking to ensure the supply of aid to the most affected areas.

UAE averting the total collapse of Gaza’s health sector

Through its humanitarian efforts and relief aid under Operation Gallant Knight 3, the UAE has managed to keep the fragile health sector of Gaza operational – preventing a total collapse and ensuring continued medical services for the Palestinian people.

The UAE has been demonstrating readiness and professionalism in its efforts to address the escalating medical challenges in Gaza. There is an Emirati field hospital inside the strip and a floating hospital deployed to Egypt.

The Gulf state is also carrying out the transfer of critical cases to UAE hospitals for treatment. Since its inauguration in December 2023, the field hospital has been ensuring meticulous treatment for the people of Gaza.
