The restoration plan allocated by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism in North Batinah was carefully designed to preserve the authenticity of these important archaeological sites. The two towers which showcase the traditional style of Omani architecture are a part of Shinas historical landscape that comprises 35 towers and other notable forts including Shinas Castle, Rasat Al-Milh and Al Asrar Fort.
Hassan bin Sulaiman Al Jabri, the Director of the department expressed that the project was a community collaboration with local members donating labor and the ministry donating technical expertise and sarooj (traditional Omani mortar) and other construction materials.
This restoration effort demonstrates the Ministry’s larger plan to protect national heritage, promote cultural tourism and ensure that these architectural buildings are preserved for future generations.
