HH Sheikh Hamdan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, launched the special system on Tuesday. He became the first person to make an order through the platform from the Rochester Institute of Technology-Dubai, one of the landing points.
Keeta Drone supporting Dubai economic agenda D33
Keeta Drone, a subsidiary of Chinese technology and retail company Meituan, has been granted a licence to transport food and medicine across Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO) during the first phase of the key project.
The drone system is furthering Dubai’s leadership in future mobility. His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed expressed his gratitude to all public and private sector entities for making the pioneering project a success.
The project supports the Dubai economic agenda D33’s goal of transforming the city into one of the top three urban economies across the globe by 2033. The things Dubai is implementing today are going to set a global benchmark for the cities of the future.
The drone has a height ceiling of 100 metres and a range of 3 km. It can move at a top speed of 22 metres per second. It is part of Dubai’s ambition to further raise the quality of infrastructure, enhance quality of life, and accelerate economic progress.
UAE is the perfect location for Keeta Drone delivery system
The plan is to eventually address all of Dubai. The Keeta Drone delivery system is expected to reach 33% of Dubai by the end of the decade, positioning the emirate as a pioneer in smart mobility. Dubai seeks to remain best prepared for the future.
The drone is an M-Drone Gen 3. It is a six-rotor vehicle and has a maximum load capacity of 2.3 kg. Speaking to The National on Tuesday, Keeta Drone’s President Dr Yinian Mao emphasised that the UAE is the perfect location for such a system.
