HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, chaired the 12th session of the UAE-Bahrain Joint Higher Committee, held in Manama on Sunday. Senior representatives from both countries attended the meeting.

In his opening remarks, the UAE top diplomat emphasised on the deep bonds of fraternity, friendship and collaboration both countries share. He noted that the meeting sheds light on the strong and enduring bilateral relationship, nurtured by leaders of both nations.

UAE-Bahrain bilateral relations represent a shared destiny

The UAE and Bahrain seek to elevate their strategic relations and diversify areas of bilateral cooperation. The Emirati diplomat highlighted that the UAE continues to consider Bahrain an “integral and deeply rooted part of the journey of progress and prosperity.”

His Highness pointed out that the continued periodic convening of the UAE-Bahrain Joint Higher Committee reflects the commitment of both Gulf nations to put in considerable efforts together as opportunities and achievements are explored.

The UAE-Bahrain bilateral relations represent a shared destiny and ambitious goals. The bilateral non-oil trade exceeded $7.5 billion in 2023. Both countries seek to strengthen partnerships across industries such as trade, clean energy and infrastructure.

The Emirati minister noted their shared objective to expand partnership across all sectors, including industry, trade, transportation, infrastructure and services. The UAE believes in the necessity of cooperation in different international institutions.

Key MoUs signed during UAE-Bahrain Joint Higher Committee

During the 12th session of the UAE-Bahrain Joint Higher Committee, the foreign ministers of both countries noted the signing of an executive programme in the tourism sector, besides four key memoranda of understanding (MoUs).

1. MoU on bilateral cooperation and the exchange of financial and economic policies and expertise

2. MoU on strengthening cooperation and exchanging expertise in civil aviation

3. MoU on cooperation in enhancing competitiveness

4. MoU on cooperation in training and developing government competencies
