In implementation of the directives of HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, President of the UAE, the Gulf state has launched a national relief campaign to support Lebanon and its people in light of the ongoing field escalation, the foreign ministry said in a statement.

Based on the order of His Highness to provide an urgent humanitarian relief package amounting to $100 million to Lebanon, the UAE sent an aid plane carrying 40 tonnes of urgent medical supplies on Friday. This plane is the first to land in Lebanon as part of the campaign.

The UAE has been expressing its deep concern about the increasing escalation in Lebanon and the consequences of the dangerous situation and its impact on regional stability. The country has also affirmed its support for the Lebanese people facing challenges.

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nation has adopted a firm position for Lebanon’s unity, national sovereignty and territorial integrity – and has been calling for intensified global efforts to stop the escalation to prevent bloodshed and protect civilians.

The dispatch of the aid plane on Friday highlights the UAE’s humanitarian efforts to support the brotherly Lebanese people. It reflects the Emirates’ vision and the principles of historical brotherhood in providing relief supplies in times of crisis.
