UAE–Bahrain High-Level Summit: Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed & King Hamad Meet in Abu Dhabi

President Sheik Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held a high-level meeting with King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain during his visit. The meeting stressed the long-term cooperation between the UAE-Bahrain and their common desire to further strengthen their cooperation.

The talks ranged from economic development, trade and investment to security in the region and wider regional coordination, among other topics. The talks on the summit are coming at a time when both nations are working to deepen cooperation in the Gulf and to enhance their economic resilience.

Economic Cooperation Takes Centre Stage

One of the priorities of the meeting was on bilateral economic and investment relations. The two leaders discussed prospects for further advancing the joint development project and deepening cooperation in such sectors as logistics, renewable energy and trade.

More economic integration between the UAE and Bahrain may also have benefits for broader integration in the region around investment and the formation of better supply chains. The two sides again expressed their eagerness for accelerating cooperation in the implementation of their long-term economic development interests.

Another crucial point in the discussions in Abu Dhabi was “Security Coordination.” Sheikh Mohamed also had a discussion with King Hamad on the developments in the Middle East, stressing the need for regional stability.

The leaders also discussed the importance of ongoing cooperation regarding maritime security, safeguarding key transportation corridors, and fostering diplomacy to mitigate tensions in the region. The focus of their discussions was the close link between Gulf security and economic stability.

This meeting also provided a chance to reaffirm Abu Dhabi’s close political ties with Manama. King Hamad thanked the UAE for its continued support for Bahrain and reiterated the strong UAE-Bahrain bilateral solidarity in the region.

The visit highlighted the wider strategic and security aspects of the partnership, with senior Bahraini security officials, including Lieutenant General Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, attending.
