The UAE has conducted a significant operation to evacuate 86 critically injured patients from the Gaza Strip, including children and cancer patients in need of extensive treatment. 124 of their family members have accompanied the patients.

The flight represented the UAE’s 22nd such operation. This initiative exemplifies the UAE’s steadfast and enduring commitment to support the brotherly Palestinians as the conflict rages on, said Sultan Mohammed al-Shamsi.

UAE committed to helping sick, injured Palestinians

The assistant minister of foreign affairs for development and international organisations and member of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council noted that the UAE is committed to help injured Palestinians and those suffering from diseases.

The latest evacuation is part of an initiative launched by President HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed to treat 1,000 injured Palestinian children and 1,000 cancer patients in the UAE hospitals. To date, 2,127 people have reached the Gulf state.

The UAE has been taking significant steps to provide healthcare to sick and severely injured Gazans. The country has also been dispatching urgent aid, including food, medical and relief supplies to the Palestinian people.

UAE ensuring aid reaches isolated areas of Gaza

Under the ‘Gallant Knight 3’ humanitarian operation, the UAE has established a field hospital in Gaza. Since it began operations on December 2, 2023, the facility has treated 50,489 cases. There is also a floating hospital established by the country for Gazans.

In February 2024, the Prosthetic Limb Centre opened at the UAE Field Hospital in the territory to rehabilitate patients and enable them to lead normal lives. There is also an Operation Birds of Goodness under the initiative, ensuring aid reaches the most isolated areas, too.
