UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed designates February 28 as Emirati Day of Education

In recognition of the crucial role of education in the UAE’s development vision and in appreciation of every person involved in the education system, President HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed has designated February 28 as Emirati Day of Education.

His Highness emphasised that since its founding, the UAE has placed education at the heart of its plans. This annual day honours the significant contribution of education to the development of society and the UAE’s cultural renaissance.

MBZ establishes Emirati Day of Education in big move

February 28 is historically significant as it marks the graduation of the first group of teachers from the UAE University in 1982. The Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan, and the Rulers of the Emirates attended the major event that year.

UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed stressed that strengthening the foundations of education and raising its profile has been a top priority of the country since its inception and throughout all stages of its development, according to official media reports.

The establishment of the Emirati Day of Education reflects the leadership’s unflinching belief in the value of education and its role in building generations and advancing nations, serving as a major driver of development and progress.

The government recognises the role of education in building a prosperous economy for the post-fossil fuel era. It developed the National Strategy for Higher Education 2030 to offer future generations the necessary technical and practical skills.
