Compassion and generosity are at the heart of UAE’s policies. The total value of humanitarian programmes, relief operations, development and reconstruction projects and orphan sponsorships carried out by the ERC has surpassed Dh424 million.
The numbers are from the first half of 2024, including both domestic and international efforts. The Emirates Red Crescent’s projects are estimated to have benefited nearly 15,613,059 people in the UAE and scores of countries across the globe.
During the first half of the year, the value of ERC’s programmes, activities and local projects in different vital areas amounted to more than Dh87 million domestically. On the international stage, the value easily surpassed Dh336 million, according to a recent report.
ERC becoming a significant player in global humanitarian field
The report highlighted that through its activities during H1 2024, the Emirates Red Crescent has become more efficient and dynamic in its humanitarian environment. It has an increasingly broader reach and quicker presence in areas affected by crises and disasters.
Several factors have contributed to making the ERC a significant player in the global humanitarian field. One of the most important of these factors is the leadership of the UAE as it has been enabling the entity to launch meaningful initiatives.
The Emirati leadership is considerably supporting the ERC to make a positive difference in improving lives, reducing suffering and spreading happiness and positivity among the most vulnerable and underserved populations.
Emirates Red Crescent’s humanitarian assistance in numbers
– During the first half of 2024, the value of humanitarian aid dispatched by the ERC reached almost Dh4 million, benefiting 3,734 people.
– Medical assistance amounted to Dh8.8 million and educational assistance reached almost Dh 3.9 million, according to the report.
– Under the category of institutional support, the Emirates Red Crescent’s assistance – valued at Dh65,600 benefited a couple of institutions.
– The value of humanitarian cases supported through the ERC’s social media platforms reached Dh16,887,472, benefiting more than 480 cases.
– The cost of orphan sponsorship programmes during the first half of the year surpassed Dh28 million, benefiting over 148,000 orphans in at least 20 countries.
