UAE: National oil company to integrate ENERGYai into its operations for the first time

Energy giant ADNOC is preparing to apply ENERGYai – a first-of-its-kind custom-built agentic artificial intelligence – into its operations to boost decision-making and operational efficiency. It is part of UAE’s ambition to develop its tech industry further.
The UAE is a prominent oil producer but has been putting substantial efforts into economic diversification in recent years. ENERGYai is going to combine large language model (LLM) technology and cutting-edge ‘agentic’ artificial intelligence for superior results.
Better decision-making and operational efficiency
Dr Sultan al-Jaber, UAE’s minister of industry and advanced technology, COP28 President and CEO of the national oil company, made the announcement on Monday at an industry event. He has a deepening focus on ensuring greater tech progress sustainably.
It has been reported that agentic AI is the next frontier in artificial intelligence. It lets the system operate autonomously and perform tasks on behalf of users, reported Reuters. Essentially, systems can make effective decisions through lesser human intervention.
ENERGYai is projected to accelerate by up to 75% the building of detailed geological models using very large and diverse datasets to support the planning and development of large-scale CO2 storage solutions, according to media reports.
Dr al-Jaber noted that the technology is set to “proactively and autonomously identify operational improvements,” adding that it has the potential to considerably speed up seismic surveys and improve the accuracy of production forecasts.
UAE strategy for artificial intelligence: In focus
In recent years, the UAE has been pouring billions of dollars into the evolving artificial intelligence industry. Emirati officials believe the Gulf country’s focus on modern technology is going to turn it into a key economic actor after demand for oil has dropped. In 2017, the government launched the ‘UAE strategy for artificial intelligence‘. It seeks to achieve the objectives of UAE Centennial 2071, boost government performance at all levels, and provide quick efficient solutions.
