UAE launches ‘Zayed Humanitarian Legacy Foundation’ to commemorate Sheikh Zayed’s efforts

UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed has launched a federal decree to establish Erth Zayed Philanthropies. The foundation is going to uphold the legacy of the Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan, and the ongoing efforts of the country’s icons.

Under the patronage of the President of the State, ‘Erth Zayed’ is going to implement a number of global humanitarian initiatives and programmes and direct efforts to tackle issues that have the greatest impact on the local and global community.

The foundation is also aimed at supporting and enhancing the UAE’s comprehensive strategy in the humanitarian and charitable field, by leading and managing existing and future businesses, and raising the level of performance, efficiency, impact and financial sustainability.

Erth Zayed to embrace UAE’s existing philanthropic efforts

The establishment of Erth Zayed Philanthropies marks a fresh era in the UAE’s charitable journey. The foundation is going to support the Gulf state’s evolving position as a leader in global philanthropy, reported Khaleej Times.

Erth Zayed is going to have a keen focus on a broad portfolio of high-impact projects spanning areas of local and international significance, such as education, health, food, energy, climate and sustainability, and social innovation.

In addition, the foundation is also going to embrace existing philanthropic initiatives, such as Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, Emirates Foundation, Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund, and Zayed Sustainability Prize.

Philanthropy long been central to the UAE’s identity

Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Court, stressed the importance of the vital role played by the Zayed Humanitarian Legacy Foundation to create a positive impact in all humanitarian, charitable and development fields.

For his part, Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed, chairman of the international humanitarian affairs council, noted the keenness of the UAE President to develop people’s lives irrespective of their location, ensuring their happiness and developing their capabilities.

Philanthropy has long been central to the UAE’s identity and is a prominent part of the legacy of the Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed. Through Erth Zayed Philanthropies, the country seeks to make a positive impact globally that is felt for many generations to come.
