Saudi Arabia stresses need for meningitis vaccine for Umrah during Ramadan 2025
The Ministry of Health of Saudi Arabia has strongly highlighted the need for meningitis vaccination for people intending to perform Umrah during the holy month of Ramadan in 2025. The exact dates for Ramadan depend on the moon sighting committee.
It is part of efforts to enhance health measures and limit the spread of infectious diseases, according to a report by the Saudi Press Agency. The ministry noted the need to get vaccinated at least 10 days before travelling for Umrah to get the required immunity.
The Saudi ministry also noted that people vaccinated against meningitis in the past 5 years do not need a booster dose as the vaccine does not lose its potential in this period. The directive supports the Kingdom’s efforts to protect the health of Umrah performers.
The Ministry of Health of Saudi Arabia has also urged people seeking to perform Umrah to book an appointment on the Sehhaty mobile application to get the vaccine at adult vaccination clinics, stressing the need for a safe and healthy Umrah experience.
