Saudi Arabia Records Nearly 4 Million Vehicles on Mecca Roads in Just 10 Days of Ramadan
According to the Roads General Authority from the kingdom in the first ten days of Ramadan, Saudi Arabia registered a dramatic increase of more than 3.7 million vehicles on roads leading to Mecca.
The increase is attributed to a rising number of pilgrims performing Umrah at Islam’s holiest site Grand Mosque. Authorities have implemented an integrated system of services including management of the entire road network, maintenance and installation of safety features and installations of technologies enabling efficient flow of traffic. Roads are regularly surveyed and maintained in order to provide safety for the pilgrims and other travelers.
Ramadhan is the month of genuine worship and hence is the prime season for Umrah. According to Al Arabiya TV more than 25 million worshippers including 5.5 million Umrah pilgrims came to the Grand Mosque in just the first 10 days of the holy month.
In preparations for the holy month, Saudi authorities have exerted huge resources to host pilgrims to allow them to perform their religious rites easily and comfortably. Mecca is hence still pointedly devoted to and a pilgrimage focal point for millions more.
