Qatar Airways is grabbing headlines and it is all for a good reason. As the airline became the first leading airline in the North Africa (MENA) and the Middle East Region to introduce complementary Starlink Wi- Fi onboard. This pioneering service will be available on three Boeing 777- 300 aircraft by the fourth quarter of the year 2024, with vision and plan to upgrade the entire modern fleet with this cutting edge technology over the coming two years.

Passengers can experience enjoying ultra high speed Wi- Fi up to 500 Megabits per second per plane. They will be able to stream their favorite entertainment and sports videos, browse the web, enjoy online gaming and access a good number of internet based services and all this they can enjoy while flying at 35,000 feet.

In the presence of Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al- Meer and Vice President of Starlink Engineering at SpaceX, Mike Nicolls, announced this upgrade at the Aircraft Interior Expo in Hamburg, Germany.

This introduction of Starlink’s high speed and low latency Wi- Fi will allow passengers to easily connect with a simple ‘one click access’. This decision highlights the airline’s dedication and commitment to deliver the best services to its passengers.

Engr. Badr Mohammed Al- Meer stated, “This collaboration with Starlink shows our commitment to elevating our passenger’s experience. We aim to meet and exceed their expectations throughout their journey with Qatar Airways.”

As it is the first service of its kind in the MENA region, this partnership with the world’s largest satellite internet constellation operated by SpaceX, “Starlink”, is considered a big milestone for Qatar Airways. This calculated decision is set to bolster the airline’s already phenomenal onboard experience.

Vice President of Starlink Engineering at SpaceX, Mike Nicolls commented, “High speed, low latency internet is the future of aviation connectivity. We’re excited to work with Qatar Airways to bring Starlink to their fleet by the end of this year. Soon, all Qatar Airways passengers will enjoy the world’s best in- flight connectivity from the comfort of their seats.
