Kuwait Inaugurates Al-Shaheed Park Phase III
Kuwait has opened Al-Shaheed Park’s third phase, bringing together a collection of culture, sports, entertainment and family attractions to one of the best recognised public spots in Kuwait City. The phase was officially opened on 30th Sept and the new facilities are due for opening to visitors from 1st Oct 2026.
The opening is being expanded by the addition of a two-day carnival on October 1 and 2 with cultural performances, light shows, parades, family activities and sporting displays all included. The themes of peace, harmony and hope are run throughout the programme; with a strong cultural and community focus at first.
Al-Sour Theater Becomes the Cultural Highlight
The most striking development is the Al-Sour Theater Complex standing at the centre, consisting of a Romanesque theater that seats approximately 2,300 people. The complex also features an outdoor cinema and a multipurpose hall which can host performances and cultural programmes, screenings and public events.
The commemoration will be filled with light, reminding audience members of the theater, with heritage presentations and visual displays. The venue is meant to provide Kuwait with a bigger show place for cultural and entertainment acts to take place within the park’s veins.
Ice, Snow and Electric Karting
Phase III also takes the fun of parks to a new level by introducing a sports and entertainment field. There is an Olympic size ice-skating rink, an electric karting circuit (circa 650 metres) and an indoor snow facility for visitors to enjoy.
The snow attraction also offers a unique indoor entertainment for Kuwait and the karting track offers a motorsport oriented activity. The sports complex is also extensive for indoor sky diving equipment and other adventure equipment.
New Spaces for Fitness and Families
For outdoor facilities, there is a walking and running track which is designed and constructed specially for a length of 2.4 km in the space, landscaped spaces, fountain and ample spaces for recreation. Families will also be able to enjoy the shaded climbing space, the ‘maze garden’ and the interactive visitor maps.
The development also provides an increase in parking space, with 2,388 cars being able to be stored in several underground car parks. It comprises many new buildings, new attractions, and large green spaces and has a total project area of over 243,000 square metres.
A New Kuwait City Destination
Al-Shaheed Park has been opened to the public in Phase III that features green spaces, theatres, indoor sports, families and outdoor fun. The expansion will provide more choice of activities and experiences in one urban location.
