The Dh415 Hike: The Exact Cost to Renew Your Indian Passport in the UAE From Today
The Government of India made a massive change in the fee structure for the Passport Services today, with Indian expatriates around the UAE paying much more in making deals with the Embassy of India. The new scale of fees become effective from July 1, 2026, thus for the first time after almost 14 years there is a set of overarching fees for overseas passport services.
All Indian passport works that are handled by the Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi, Consulate General of India, Dubai, and the recently established Indian Consular Application Centres (ICACs) of Alhind Tours & Travels LLC will be subject to the revised fees.
The roll-up will have an impact on those who apply for a passport, costing them up to Dh415 more on their applications, particularly those relating to urgent renewals or replacement applications.
Why Have Indian Passport Fees Increased?
The changes in the fee structure come after over a decade when no major changes took place in the fee structure, according to the Ministry of External Affairs.
Also, with the fee revision comes a massive transformation of the U.A.E’s passport service operation processes. Alhind Tours and Travels are taking over the previous outsourcing service providers Karachi with effect from July 1 and hence hosted by them passport, visa, attestation and consular support services provided to the Indian citizens of Emirates would continue from that day onwards.
New Indian Passport Renewal Fees in the UAE
Those seeking to renew their passports will now have to pay significantly higher government renewal rates when compared with those before renewals.
Fresh Passport Cost

| Passport Service | New Normal Fee | New Tatkal Fee | Previous Normal Fee |
| Ordinary Passport (36 Pages) | Dh450 | Dh900 | Dh285 |
| Ordinary Passport (60 Pages) | Dh630 | Dh1,080 | Dh380 |
The Tatkal category continues to be the quickest way to get an urgent passport, but now comes at a hefty price.
Lost or Damaged Passport Replacement Costs
According to the new regulations, it will be one of the most costly services that can be obtained with the passport. Check the table tabulated below for the renewed fees for lost or damaged passports.
| Replacement Service | New Normal Fee | New Tatkal Fee |
| Lost/Damaged Passport (36 Pages) | Dh900 | Dh1,350 |
| Lost/Damaged Passport (60 Pages) | Dh1,080 | Dh1,530 |
The fees are for both lost and stolen passports as well as damaged ones that are no longer functional.
Passport Fees for Children
The Government of India will keep on waiving passport fees for people under the age of 18. Check the table tabulated below for the renewed fees for children passports.
| Passport Type | Cost |
| Minor Passport (36 Pages) | Dh325 |
| Minor Passport (Tatkal) | Dh775 |
| Lost/Damaged Minor Passport | Dh775 |
| Lost/Damaged Minor Passport | Dh1,225 |
Alhind Becomes the New Passport Service Provider
One more noteworthy change in addition to the new fee schedule is the appointment of the new Outsourced passport service providers in UAE “Alhind Tours and Travels LLC”.
From July 1st the Indian Consular Application Centres (Al Hind) will replace the previous service operators as an office for citizens to apply, renew their passport or apply for attestation and other consular services.
Applications are requested to verify the appointment protocol and documentation needed prior to the visit to the nearest centre.
What This Means for Indian Expats?
The changes in the passport will affect the lives of millions of Indians residing in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Umm Al Quwain and elsewhere in the emirates.
But people with expiring passports will have to plan their spending more comprehensively, especially if they are expecting to use Tatkal or replacement services as they may lose or damage their passports.
The significantly higher processing fees for emergency transactions can be avoided if renewal is planned well in advance.
