A significant development is spread in the air of the Gulf and the globe that on a recent international investigation cleared the Saudi-led military coalition involved in the Yemen conflict of any crimes related to human rights violations.
Human rights organisations’ allegations that the coalition launched airstrikes, including one on the Bir Zeid Health Unit in Ketaf Al-Boqa’a district in 2015, were refuted by the Joint Assessment Team on Wednesday.
Three claims of “operational misbehavior” made against the alliance were investigated by the JIAT.
Charitable medical care On August 17, 2015, Physicians for Human Rights filed a complaint against the coalition for what it claimed to be a bombing mission on the medical unit. The investigation, according to team spokesman Mansour Al-Mansour, indicated that the coalition’s closest military target on that particular date was 700 meters away from the scene.
Another allegation, made in 2021 by the UN Human Rights Office spokeswoman, concerned an alleged airstrike that struck a pickup truck and resulted in multiple deaths on September 18, 2021, in the Markhah Al-Ulya district of the Shabwah Governorate.
Al-Mansour noted that the Houthi militia, backed by Iran, had taken control of Al-Musawarah village in Al-Baydha Governorate and was moving towards Markhah Al-Ulya. The Houthi militia is located in the southwest of the Shabwah Governorate, according to intelligence received by the coalition forces.

It was determined that one guided bomb that successfully struck the Houthi militia’s pickup truck served as the air target during an operation by coalition forces.
Additionally, it was discovered that the coalition forces had implemented every safety measure to prevent casualties and unintentional harm while carrying out the military operation.
A child who was hurt while playing outside her home during a nearby airstrike in Bait Al-Rahal village, in the Al-Ma’asil area of the Al-Jarahi district of Al-Hodeidah Governorate, was also cleared by the JIAT of any human rights violations.
On February 2, 2022, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights representative in Yemen made the assertion.
After going through every document, including air tasking orders and the daily mission schedule, the team concluded that no air mission by coalition forces was conducted in Al-Hodeidah Governorate before or after the claimed date and that the claimed house was not targeted on that date.
And as a final result of the investigation has given us a new point of view. The claims that the coalition was violating human rights regularly were not backed up by the international team of investigators.
Although the conflict in Yemen is still going on, the results of this investigation are a big deal that could change the way things work in the area and the coalition’s reputation in the world.
