One of the newest multi-role fighters, the Eurofighter Typhoon stands out for its ability to conduct electronic warfare and react quickly.
Four Eurofighter Typhoon Tranche 3 aircraft were delivered to the Kuwaiti Air Force, increasing the total number of aircraft received to 13 out of 28. The aircraft is being delivered in phases as part of a larger strategic project to improve combat readiness, which started in December 2021. One of the newest multi-role fighters, the Eurofighter Typhoon stands out for its ability to conduct electronic warfare and react quickly. Over 400 flight hours have been logged on the aircraft so far. There were several officers from the Kuwaiti Air Force present at the aircraft reception ceremony.
The Mauser BK27mm gun on the Eurofighter Typhoon can be fitted with different missiles, depending on the mission. To increase their capability, the Typhoon aircraft that were sent to Kuwait were equipped with an active electronically scanned array radar.
The Italian Air Force and the Kuwait Air Force have a deeper and wider collaboration that includes operations, pilot training, and support, which includes the Eurofighter Kuwait program. The Italian Air Force is training pilots, engineers, and technicians to support the Typhoon fleet in the Gulf nation in addition to providing air-to-air refueling via a KC-767A tanker aircraft.
The most sophisticated swing-role combat aircraft in the world, the Eurofighter Typhoon is said to possess a “supercruise” capability that allows it to fly at sustained high speeds exceeding Mach 1 (1,234 kilometers per hour, or 767 miles per hour).
It is important to remember that the Kuwaiti Air Force possesses a variety of aircraft in addition to the Eurofighter Typhoon. Other aircraft, like the F/A-18 Hornet and the Mirage F1, are also flown by the Air Force.
