The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has launched a fitness challenge called the ‘Health and Happiness’ competition.
The goal of the competition is to raise awareness about the importance of adopting healthy habits to prevent lifestyle diseases and to encourage exercise among the community.
The competition will last for five months, starting from August and ending in December. Anyone who is 18 years or older and does not have any health conditions that prevent moderate exercise can participate.
To enter the competition, individuals need to download the STEPPI application from the App Store, Play Store, or Huawei App Gallery and create an account. The app will be used to track participants’ fitness activities and progress during the challenge.
There will be a total of Dh240,000 in cash and in-kind prizes, which will be equally distributed among 30 male and female winners.
The competition is a joint effort between the DHA, the STEPPI platform, and Aster Clinics. It will involve various fitness challenges and activities to encourage people to get fit and stay healthy.
By participating in the ‘Health and Happiness’ competition, members of the public have the opportunity to not only improve their health and well-being but also have a chance to win cash prizes.
It is an initiative aimed at fostering a healthier community and promoting a lifestyle that prioritizes physical activity and overall well-being.
Last month (July, 2023) the Dubai Health Authority had an update of its Diagnostic Related Groups (DRGs) process that was aimed to reduce health insurance costs and improve patient outcomes.
DRGs is an international system that categorizes patients with similar diagnoses to manage costs and reimbursement rates. The DHA had made it mandatory for all in-patient and day-case claims to be submitted using the DRG procedure.

This standardized the pricing of treatments and prevented hospitals from overcharging or providing unnecessary treatment.
This policy has allowed HR teams to have more control over their insurance policies and work closely with advisers to optimize their network and budget.
