Mark your calendars for September 9 and 10, when the highly anticipated G20 Leaders Summit in India will witness member countries and invitees coming together for engaging conversations on economic reforms. The event promises to be a pivotal moment for global collaboration.
Held under the theme “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” or “One Earth, One Family and One Future”, the summit in Delhi will focus on the adoption of a G20 Leaders’ Declaration, a document that underscores the leaders’ commitment to the priorities discussed during ministerial meetings.
Discussions will involve key topics that shape our future, including advancing climate finance and quality of life, navigating technological transformations, promoting inclusive economic expansion and reforming multilateral institutions to suit ongoing developments and crises.
Finding Amicable Solutions For Geopolitical Issues
The Group of 20 unites 19 countries and the European Union, accounting for 85% of the world’s total GDP, over 65% of the world’s population and 75% of the global trade. The event has also extended its reach to several Special Guests, including Oman and the UAE in the Gulf region.
In addition, multiple international organisations will also join the G20 Leaders Summit as guests, representing global cooperation. The UN, World Bank, International Monetary Fund, World Trade Organisation, Asian Development Bank and Financial Stability Board could be in attendance.
Responding to a question on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine at a B20 summit in Delhi last week, G20 summit negotiator Amitabh Kant revealed India’s hopes to convince members of the grouping to find amicable solutions to troubles surrounding the geopolitical arena.
What Makes UAE A Special Guest At The Summit?
Apart from Oman and the UAE in the Gulf region, India has also invited Bangladesh, Spain, Singapore, Nigeria, Mauritius, Egypt and the Netherlands as Special Guests to the September event. But the invite to the Emirates holds special significance.
