UAE Expands Digital Visa Services With New Beirut Centre in Lebanon

The UAE will launch a new Electronic Visa Centre in Beirut to enhance their digital visa initiative for Lebanon. The UAE MOFA officially announced this on 28th September as a part of the UAE’s strategies towards enhancing ties and services related to visas for applicants in Lebanon.

New UAE Electronic Visa Centre in Beirut

The centre will enable the applicants of visas to undergo visa-related processes in Lebanon without having to leave to access the required services. The bays are meant to reduce the travel time of customers and guide them in speeding up the procedures as per the regulations of the relevant authorities, says Under-Secretary/Deputy Minister of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs Omar Obaid Al Shamsi.

The opening date of the centre was not yet stated and the payment centre is neither fully filled out, nor is it cleared for every visa type. Applicants are thus expected to adhere to official UAE procedures for the relevant visa category, documentation and processes upon the operationalization of this facility.

Digital Services and Applicant Convenience

The Beirut centre is one of the UAE’s projects to ease the burdens of its government and consular services with digital solutions. The initiative is based on the UAE’s experience in adopting innovative digital systems, which aim to enhance the efficiency of service delivery, and offer more flexibility for customers, said Al Shamsi.

If the procedures for visa processing are available in the country, having the visa procedure service within the country may save a few travels that might have been considered for other applicants. The centre aims to make the process relevant to the applicants, without changing its procedures and requirements as defined by the pertinent UAE authorities.

Strengthening UAE-Lebanon Cooperation

The new Electronic Visa Centre plays a more than a simply functional part with a bilateral aspect. Efforts to strengthen ties between the UAE and Lebanon yielded this initiative, which is an important step in advancing bilateral cooperation, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs added.

The facility also serves as an example towards the growing digitisation of Diplomatic and Consular Services. The UAE is taking its visa service digitalisation model to Aliens, by making visas more accessible locally.
